The "Party Starter" Set

This set is being updated

(These are only suggestions)

"Oldies Slow Medley" - Freddie Paris (of the Five Satins)
this is an updated version of 50's & 60's slow songs redone by Freddie Paris.
We usually use this one for the "snow-ball" or "multiplication dance".
It's about 5 minutes long, and works perfectly for an opening slow dance.
As far as we know it is unavailable in any format.  We have a copy from a
Night Club from several years ago which we transferred from vinyl to CD.
I haven't seen any other DJ companies who carry this one.

Spotlight Slow Dance - For most parties there is a Guest(s)
of Honor, we can open the Dancing with a slow song in tribute
to the Guest(s) of Honor and his or her spouse then invite
all of the other couples to join in.  Of course we would
want to use their favorite song or artist for this song.

Opening Fast Set
(Only Suggestions)
(mixed together)

"Run-around Sue" - John Cafferty
(from the Eddie & the Cruisers Soundtrack)
Just like the original by Dion, only much more danceable & without the slow intro.

"Brown Eyed Girl" - Jimmy Buffet - Live Version
Yes, Jimmy Buffet, this version is much more dance-able than
the original version and has the "Live" sound.  It's a great
"Ice Breaker" tune and an excellent sing-along.

"Old Time Rock & Roll" - Bob Seger - Live Version
This one has a long intro, which we skip, and is just a fantastic and live sounding
version of the original, which everyone knows.  If you think you're sick of this
song, wait till you hear the Live version, with our extra sound effects, (applause, ect.)
mixed in throughout this entire set !

"Y.M.C.A." - Village People - (5 min. version)
This version (as far as we know) was available on only one CD, and is
no longer in print.  It's slightly longer that the normal version, yet no
one can really tell the difference.  It beat mixes perfectly with the great
ending of "Old Time Rock & Roll", and usually fills the dance floor.
Although many people despise this song (we always ask for a
"Do Not Play" list) it usually works to get a large variety of
age groups to get up and dance.

"You'll Be Mine (Party Time)" - Gloria Estefan
It should be time by now to pass out the maracas.
This song has the perfect (slightly latin) style for shaking our maracas.
We will pass them out and turn all of the guests into musicians.

"Let's Get Loud" - Jennifer Lopez
This is not like any other J-Lo song, it continues with
the Latin Beat and it's very dance-able and a Super Festive Song.

We then usually continue this set with a variety of either
Disco, Newer Dance Music, Rock'n'Roll, or 1 or 2 of the
"Specialty Dances" before slowing it down for a slow set.

Specialty Dances

"Cha Cha Slide" - Mr. C The Slide Man
One of the newer line dances, kids especially
along with adults love this dance.

"Electric Boogie" - Marcia Griffiths
(also known as the Electric Slide)
We also use a longer version of this one than the original.  It's
still a hugely popular party dance.

"Macarena" - Bay Side Boys
We use one of the original versions, it still draws people out to show off.
We usually promote this one as a free-style dance, in other words,
"If we get enough dancers we'll have a Macarena Contest"
and tell them that we're looking for style and improvisation.
People are amazed at what some dancers come up with while dancing
to this song.  It is a riot!  We usually pick the 2 funniest (or sexiest) dancers,
give them a minute or two to show off individually, and give each a prize.
(see the games & prizes page for info. on prizes)

We recommend this set for all ages.  Some of the songs
might seem overdone, or "bogus" but it usually satisfies
most of the guests, and gives everyone a chance to
get up and dance.  Remember, if you appeal to the older
people early, it gives us an opportunity to experiment
with other styles later on, and avoid any complaints
from your guests.  These songs are ALL optional !

Other Disco Favorites

"I Will Survive" - Gloria Gaynor

"Copacabana" - Barry Manilow (long version)
There is also a new version of this song called "Copacabana 2005"

"Celebration" - Kool & the Gang - Ultimix
and keeping with the disco beat...

"We Are Family" - Sister Sledge
This one is a perfect dedication for family, sisters, or the Wedding Party,
Bridesmaids, ect.

"September" - Earth Wind & Fire
This R&B Classic is perfect for the "30-somethings"

"Good Times" - Chic
Another not often played Disco Classic,
has the perfect beat to keep the dancing going,
rollerskate, rollerskate,...

"My First, My Last, My Everything" - Barry White

Other Rock & Country Favorites

"The Wanderer" - Dave Edmunds - Live Version
This version has a much better sound than the original
including a "killer" sax section.  You get the feel of
a real live performance band with this version.

"Man I Fell Like a Woman" - Shania Twain
We usually ask the women (or girls) to sing along.
We can cut the sound for the chorus so all the "Ladies"
can sing out loud.  It's always a crowd pleaser if we
find a young girl (Flower Girl) and give her the cordless
microphone to sing the chorus.

"The Twist" - Chubby Checker
Chubby Checker is the ultimate dance party artist.
This classic dance tune is still a favorite for young and old.

"Some Kind of Wonderful" - Delburt McClinton
This is a somewhat bluesy version of the rock classic
done by Grand Funk.  It's so dance-able no one
can resist it.

"Louie Louie" - Animal House Soundtrack
The ultimate "Frat Rock" party tune.
John Belushi sings this version, what else can we say.

Newer Dance and Club Mixes
Check our New Music Pages
and Dance Remix CD's

Of course for younger groups or to keep with a Variety
we usually throw in some of the newer stuff.
(With a party strictly for younger guests we do mostly newer music)

We have hundreds of Dance Re-Mixes and extended mixes,
along with the original versions.  Here are some more recent
selections that are very popular.

"Yeah" - Usher

"Crazy in Love" - Beyonce

"In da Club" - 50 Cent

"If You Want My Love" - Jennifer Lopez - Extended Mix

"Let's Get it Started" - Black Eyed Peas

"Without Me" - Eminem - Ultimix
This version starts off like Michael Jackson's "Billie Jean"
it suprises everyone.

"Let Me Clear My Throat" - DJ Kool - Ultimix
This is a classic Hip Hop Dance tune and the Ultimix  includes
and incredible rythym break, one of the best re-mixes ever.

Well, this is the "Party Starter" set, and as you can see,
it's not just the songs themselves that make it a hit.
We have literally Tens of Thousands of songs in are arsenal,
these songs are just of few of the "Interactive" songs
that are guaranteed Party Starters.

Usually by this time (if not sooner) everyone is ready for a "Slow Set"
Check out our "Slow Song & Dedications" page.

We suggest these to play early on to appeal to all age groups.

"Unchained Melody" - The Righteous Bros.
Still just about the most popular slow song of all time.
The movie "Ghost" helped bring this one back.
It's actually very old, and was first released in the
30's or 40's as an instrumental theme song
from the movie "Unchained".  We usually announce the first slow set as
a "ladies Choice", and invite all the ladies to find a guy and bring him out.

"Wonderful Tonight" - Eric Clapton
This one always fills the dance floor, and also works well as a "gentlemen's choice"

"When a Man Loves a Woman" - Michael Bolton
Usually the only Michael Bolton song we play.  Many people don't even know
that it's him.  Alot of people don't care for Michael Bolton, but this song
always mixes in well, also good for a "gentlemen's choice".  It's not
the original, (we do have the original also) but it's the best version
we've heard.  Bette Midler and Percy Sledge have other popular versions.

"Because You Loved Me" - Celine Dion
Another one that fills the dance floor.  This one works well as a dedication
and also for Wedding Formal Dances such as bride & father, ect.

"From This Moment" - Shania Twain
Also popular at Weddings.  This is one of the most requested
First Dance songs of 1999.

Other Classic Slow Dance Songs:

"Heaven" - Bryan Adams
"Crazy for You" - Madonna
"Wonderful World"- Louis Armstrong
There is a fantastic new version of this song
sung by Tony Bennet & K.D. Lang

New Additions to Slow Favorites

"I hope You Dance" - Lee Anne Womack
"Still" - Brian McKnight
"Thank You for Loving Me" - Bon Jovi

Songs for a "Slow Set" are usually played in threes.
